Top 10 kitchen trends for 2026

By Hayley Gilbert

The kitchen has always been the hub of the home. A place where family and friends come together to cook, eat and catch up on life’s events. With this in mind, kitchen trends for 2026 are all about embracing this warm, personal and grounded feeling.

Crafted cabinetry in natural tones of green and earthy palettes are either slim Shaker style or deeply moulded in-frame designs. Appliances take centre stage with décor surrounds to enhance their statement look, while minimalist lighting, characterful timber and stone, fluted panels and smart storage are all key.

If you’re planning a redesign this year, read on to find out how you can incorporate these trends for a kitchen that’s the heart of your home.

1 Nature-inspired greens

Green in all its natural forms has been a huge hit with homeowners lately and this colour trend is set to become even bigger for 2026. Think dark moss tones for painted in-frame cabinet doors. The rich pigment works especially well with natural stone flooring, stone surfaces for worktops and splashbacks and timber dining furniture.

It also looks stunning paired with Rangemaster’s Classic range cooker in Pale Cream, enhancing the traditional approach. This trend is all about bringing the outside in so add extra greenery in the form of potted plants, hanging ferns and fresh herbs on window sills and shelving.

2 Stunning surrounds

While your range cooker can take centre stage in an eye-catching colour, you can also make a feature out of the surrounding worktop and splashback too. This trend sees specific zones of the kitchen – be it the cooking or sink area – getting a glow-up. Consider natural marble for a luxe look or a heat-resistant solid stone for a similar effect. You could even incorporate oil and spice storage into pillars either side of the cooker or hob in a traditional design – it’s all about framing these individual spaces to add practicality and personality in one.

Darker timber and natural stone

Scandi and Nordic inspired décors have been a much-loved trend in recent years but for 2026, the mood is becoming much warmer and enveloping with mid to dark wood tones and distinctive grains for cabinetry and worksurfaces. Rather than ash, birch, beech and pale oak, consider truffle oak, walnut or smoked timbers and team with large slabs of natural stone underfoot. Add texture with veining, a riven finish or bevelled edges for a rustic touch.

Think about how your kitchen looks at different times of the day too, as the natural light will have an impact on the overall finish with subtle changes from morning, noon to night.

4 Feature lighting

All kitchens need task lighting for safety when prepping and cooking food. But how many of us combine this with feature or accent lighting to create a certain mood, too? This year will see a move towards turning the kitchen into a relaxing, cosy space for entertaining so once dinner is served, you can switch to a more subtle or intimate effect with downlighters, uplights, plinth lights, LED strip lights and more for a layered effect.

5 In-frame cabinet doors

Classic Shaker-style painted doors fell out of favour for a short while but now this timeless design is back! Beloved of bespoke kitchen designers, the key is to choose quality materials, sustainable timber and expert craftsmanship for a look that lasts. Pair with dovetail drawers for sturdy box construction and add another huge trend, the double-door dresser for added storage at worktop level.

6 Enhancing appliances with added décor

A Rangemaster range cooker makes a striking focal point in any kitchen. As well as bringing professional-style features and functions to your everyday cooking, it’s a great way to add a statement to your space. This year, the trend is to take it one step further with artistic and eye-catching features that frame the appliance. It could be a patterned splashback behind it, a bold hood above or open shelving in line with the extractor where you can display your favourite ceramics, crockery, potted plants or whatever takes your fancy.

7 Slim Shaker cabinetry

If the classic in-frame design isn’t for you, the new kid on the block is its minimalist cousin, the slim Shaker. With minimal lines and detailing, it creates a cleaner, fresher feel, perfect for modern homes as well as period properties and everything in between.

With slimmer rails, refined edges and architectural lines, it’s a trend that manages to be timeless without being over-traditional. Keep it simple by choosing one colour for your appliances – black is sophisticated without feeling overpowering – and curate accessories for a clutter-free approach.

8 Smart, space-saving storage

No-one wants to be on their hands and knees reaching into the back of corner cupboards for that elusive baking tray. This year it’s all about sensible placement and storage that is quick and easy to access. Use a combination of pan drawers and open shelving for ease of use and add in slots for chopping boards and trays, drawer dividers and cutlery inserts and an open-ended island for cookery books and more.

9 Warming colour schemes

Kitchens have been nicely neutral for some time now and while the pared-back look is still on trend, 2026 sees a warmer palette coming through. Instead of off-whites, we’re seeing earthy tones such as mushroom and pale brown for painted cabinetry.

Team with timber flooring laid in a basketweave, herringbone or parquet patterns for added character and charm then introduce layered lighting to enhance the warming feel after dark.

10 Panels, ribbed and fluted effects

This year, 2026 also sees more detail in kitchens thanks to tongue and groove panelling for splashbacks and ceilings, ribbed cabinet doors and kitchen islands and fluted glass on feature wall units.

To add texture to your own space, consider adding a feature cabinet or two on a blank wall or a sideboard or dresser for extra storage.
