From a young age you may have been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you all of the essential nutrients and energy that you need to get you through the day, getting your metabolism working and ensuring that you can stay focussed on your lessons or your day at work.

A Healthy Breakfast

Posted by Alexandra Dibble Monday, 25th January 2016

Here we are the middle of January, still being bombarded with diets, exercise DVD’s, dry January and how much carbs, sugar, fat, and caffeine we should be all be consuming! The list is endless!

I think we all know what we should and should not be eating – it basically comes down to eating less and moving more. But this does not mean that you cannot eat some of your favourite food, just eat it less often and cook it as healthily as possible!

Breakfast Boost Loaf

Posted by Gill Bland Tuesday, 5th January 2016

I’m sure you’ll see plenty of green smoothies, salads and other healthy recipes doing the rounds this January but the fact remains that it’s still pretty wet and dark out there and we need some comforting stodge in our lives. This will definitely fulfil that brief.

Trick or Treat Pumpkin Chilli

Posted by Supper Club Wednesday, 28th October 2015

We’re just kidding, there’s no trick in our pumpkin recipe, just a hearty treat of a chilli to warm your cockles on those chilly October evenings.

While we may not celebrate Halloween with the same extravaganza as they do in the US, pumpkin carving is still a brilliantly fun tradition – especially if you’ve got little ones – but this year, rather than throwing out all the flesh you scrape out of the inside, keep your left overs and turn them into a delicious meal for the whole family.

A Bowl of Delicious Salad

Posted by James McIntosh Monday, 20th July 2015

My late father was a farmer, he used to complain heavily when my mum would serve a ‘lovely salad’ for dinner after a hard days work in the fields.  Dad had a point... Well, back then anyway.  Generally, in the 1980’s, salads were bowls of iceberg lettuce with tomatoes and hard boiled eggs, however, today they can be fantastic tasting bowls of summer joy full of colour and flavour.

Caraway Seed Cake - The perfect Father's Day treat

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 15th June 2015

It’s Father’s Day on June 21st so I thought I thought I’d bring you an idea of what to make for any father-figures in your life. In order to decide what to make I thought it made sense to ask my own Dad what are his favourite things to eat. He suggested a lovely range of dishes, from seafood risotto to the more classic roast pork or a pie of any form. I’m not going to give you a recipe for any of those though. I suppose this is the kind of every day injustice which the father of two daughters has to endure. Sorry Dad. Instead, I’m going to give you a recipe for caraway seed cake. I thought of it because I’m sure my Dad has mentioned this featuring in his childhood (need to ask him about that) and whilst most of my friends who are Dads would scoff down a chocolate brownie/muffin/cake at any given moment, I feel that a father’s day recipe should be something more refined.

Bye bye Beige. The sun is out; it’s time for a picnic

Posted by James McIntosh Thursday, 11th June 2015

Spring always gives me hope, seeing the flowers and leaves in their full glory. Spring days may be cold, but spring mornings to me are like waking up from a great night’s sleep. Summer is the icing on the cake; it’s like a party of life for me.

Using Up Leftovers

Posted by James McIntosh Monday, 18th May 2015

I don't know about your fridge but mine is full of jam jars, each full with a bit of leftover dinner from one night to the next. So what do we do with those leftovers in jars, boxes and bags in the fridge?
