Kitchen trends for 2020

Posted by Hayley Gilbert Wednesday, 20th November 2019

This month we’re taking a sneaky peak at the top trends in kitchens for the coming year. We asked kitchen expert Adrian Stoneham, managing director at Stoneham Kitchens, for his thoughts on what’s going to be big in 2020…

Going green
In 2017 Pantone announced its Colour of the Year as Greenery, a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade, and since then green has gradually gained momentum in kitchen design. A dark forest green has become a new firm favourite, which shows no signs of slowing down as we head towards 2020. As an earthy hue, this tone creates a natural warmth that works well both contrasted with another colour or used throughout. Like other dark shades such as black, a deep, rich green provides a luxurious feel to the room and works particularly well with Shaker-style cabinets.

KITCHEN TRENDS FOR 2018

Posted by Hayley Gilbert Tuesday, 23rd January 2018

Daniele Brutto, co-founder of bespoke kitchen designers Hub Kitchens (www.hubkitchens.com), reveals which trends lie in store for 2018…

What are your kitchen trend predictions for 2018 and what new products can we expect to see?

Porcelain is going to take off in a big way. The design possibilities are huge and now all the big producers are launching new colours and finishes to really make the market sit up and see what is possible. Porcelain worktops are transitioning from mimicking and traditional popular natural materials such as Carrara Marble and exciting new finishes like Ceralsio’s Ocean Stone and Rio Marron both look like exotic natural stones and are growing in popularity.

Fenix will also be important in 2018. Available in super matt finishes and bold colours, Fenix is easy to maintain and versatile in its use. Clients like being able to match worktop and door material and this can be done by using Fenix. It can also be combined with strong veneers to make a particular area pop as well as creating a zoning effect.

SIMPLY MODERN

Posted by Hayley Gilbert Wednesday, 18th October 2017

We’re going Simply Modern this month, with contemporary kitchens and the sleek, on-trend appliances and accessories to go with them. Modern schemes are a really flexible style solution for all kinds of property, whether it’s a glass box kitchen extension on the back of a Victorian terrace or a compact apartment in the heart of the city. Simple slab doors with a recessed handle offer a sleek, seamless feel which can then be topped off with a worktop either in a complementary neutral shade or something a little more daring to add a touch of drama. The latest quartz worksurfaces for instance come in all sorts of finishes including concrete effects for an on-trend industrial look. Natural timber will also suit but it does need regular oiling to keep its organic beauty looking its best. Laminate is another option and is ideal for those working to a budget.
