Use up your veggies

This week is National Vegetarian Week. Whether you’re veggie or not, the warmer weather of summer is both an ideal time to get more vegetables into your diet and also a bit of a nightmare for keeping vegetables fresh. Which vegetables end up in the tray-of-shame at the bottom of your fridge will vary from house to house. For us there’s often a slightly yellowing head of broccoli, passed over during the week for the more exotic red pepper or the easy to throw in frozen peas. The great thing about vegetables is that, unlike meat, if you use them when they are slightly ‘off peak’ you’re usually not at risk of killing anyone.

5 Step Plan to cooking for a party

Four chickens cooked in one oven at a time. That’s right, Four. Or 4 lasagnes’ or 4 cottage pies or even 4 quiches. And I don’t mean small ones. That’s just one of the features of selected Rangemaster range cookers.

With Christmas coming up and family occasions to cook for, most of us host a big meal at least once.  It can be stressful planning not only what to cook, but also to ensure it’s all cooked perfectly when served.  Ovens can cook more than one thing at once, but do be careful of putting items straight from the fridge into the oven as it will lower the temperature. Rangemaster ovens will come back to temperature quickly though.

Best of British: Scotch Eggs, Mature Cheddar Cheese and Pickle

Whether you consider them a guilty pleasure or a well-deserved treat, the scotch egg is very British and utterly delicious.

Usually confined to the realms of picnic basket or pub snack we’d like to see the scotch egg given the status it deserves! This recipe for scotch eggs, mature cheddar cheese and pickle would make a fantastic dinner party starter; packed with rustic charm and hearty country flavours it’s sure to be welcomed to the table with nostalgic shouts of, “I haven’t had one of these for ages!”
