Spring Salmon Tray Bake

Posted by Gill Bland Thursday, 13th April 2017

Roast lamb is the Easter family meal of choice and it’s true, there are few things that can beat a great roast lamb dish. But with spring, perhaps even summer trying to show its face and with Easter holidays perhaps making things a bit more rushed I thought it would be nice to bring you something lighter, less time consuming and more informal. Something that you can prep in minutes, throw in the oven and then pop on the table for everyone to dig in.

Easy Batch-Bake Biscuits

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 20th March 2017

The Rangemaster tall side oven is a wonderful thing - the slight variation in heat from top to bottom is a boon, allowing you to crisp up the roasties at the top while the apple crumble bubbles away below.  It’s great for cooking an entire meal but it really comes into its own when you want to batch cook things. Trays full of roasted vegetables, jacket potatoes to feed an army, lasagnes and all sorts of good, wholesome food can be racked up to eat now or to freeze and store later. Yes, all sorts of good, wholesome food…. or cookies. You can whip up an awful lot of cookies in a very short space of time with the tall oven. Even better, you can pre make the dough in all sorts of different flavours and have it stored in the freezer so that you can bring out mounds of freshly baked biscuits in the time it takes for the oven to heat + 10minutes.

Chocolate Tart with Meringue Kisses

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 13th February 2017

Ah valentine’s day, an excuse for all things chocolate, pink and heart shaped. This month I’m making the most of the multifunction oven to make a chocolate tart. The base is wholemeal which gives it a great al-dente chew to it and ensure that it is not too sweet, which in turn sets off the rich chocolate centre and sugary meringues.

Healthy Eating

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 9th January 2017

It's January and everyone is done with the excesses of Christmas. Happily, there seem to have been a lot less focus this year on diets and more on eating well. Here are just a couple of ways in which the Rangemaster Elan 90 gets used in our house for good-for-you and happy eating.

Summer Entertaining

Posted by Hayley Gilbert Monday, 1st June 2015

Nothing brings family and friends together more than good food and good weather, so as soon as the sun makes an appearance, my thoughts turn to barbecues, summer salads and a splash or two of sparkling wine, all enjoyed alfresco with my loved ones. Whilst I have the portable barbecue on standby, it’s always sensible to have a back-up plan in case the British summer doesn’t quite live up to expectations.

Induction cooking for the whole family

Posted by Hayley Gilbert Monday, 15th September 2014

One of my earliest memories is helping my mum make fairy cakes – probably more of the mixing and tasting than the actual cooking but children do love to help out in the kitchen, especially when it comes to baking. If you’re concerned about safety, one of the most child-friendly options in terms of hobs is induction. Its main benefit is that it’s an extremely safe method of cooking, as it’s the pan that heats up and not the hob. This is great when cooking with little ones, as if they accidentally touch the hob’s surface, they won’t get burned. Another bonus is that they usually come with built-in safety controls such as automatic shut-off if a pan is not in contact with the hob.
