The Ultimate Appliances for Christmas Entertaining
Posted by Hayley Gilbert Monday, 1st December 2014
One of the best things about Christmas is cooking for family and friends. I love planning party menus and stocking up on all the treats that take over the supermarket aisles come December. I’m also lucky to have a fantastic local butcher and baker too, as not only is it important to support small, local businesses but it’s also a fantastic way to get new ideas and inspiration on everything from snacks and nibbles to the main event.
Shopping for ingredients at this time of year is great fun but shopping for new appliances is also a delight, especially when you picture yourself concocting all manner of mouthwatering recipes. I’ve been thinking of my ultimate wish list for Christmas entertaining and my top three picks are:
A strong, sturdy range cooker is the heart of any home and when autumn falls, our thoughts turn to hearty soups and stews. What I love about the Classic Deluxe is its traditional styling and fabulous choice of colours. For me, this really is what a range cooker is all about – good looking with all the latest features. For flexible cooking, it has a multifunction oven, glide-out grill and multi-ring burner and has two ovens – one for the turkey and another for all the trimmings.
In my first two houses, I never owned a dishwasher, as the kitchens were compact to say the least and thought nothing of spending a good hour after a large get-together doing the washing-up. Sometimes it’s even quite sociable if someone offers to help! But in my previous home I found I had room for a slimline model and it changed the way I feel about washing-up forever. Now I have a new house and a new full sized design and can’t bear the thought of washing-up by hand these days, especially when you know that you’re actually using more water and energy than if you let a machine do it all for you. So that’s why Rangemaster’s 12 place setting dishwasher has to be number two on the list. It’s A++ rated for energy efficiency, has 9 programmes and five washing temperatures as well as a handy delay timer and smart LCD digital display.
I don’t usually have more than a bottle or two of plonk in the house but when it comes to Christmas, it’s the first thing on my shopping list – wine, more wine, some sparkles for celebrating and a few beers for the boys (or girls). Having a dedicated wine cabinet is perfect for keeping wine at optimum temperature and Rangemaster has a great selection from the Deluxe 24 bottle to the 45 bottle, 54 bottle and even a Dual Zone design to keep red and white fans happy. The temperature in both sections can be set between 4.4˚C and 18.3˚C and there are independent controls for perfect conditions. Guests will love it. If you’re not a wine connoisseur then the Beverage Centre is the appliance for you, as it can store a whopping 133 x 330ml cans and 14 x 75cl bottles.
So there we have it – the perfect trio to make entertaining easier than ever before. Whatever you’re doing and wherever you are, have a wonderful time and a very Merry Christmas.
