HEALTHY HOBS – HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT COOKER AND HOB COMBINATION TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS

Once the New Year is underway, it’s time to brush off those New Years’ Resolutions and start as you mean to go on. For many of us, that means embracing a whole new healthy lifestyle, including moderating the way we cook. Okay, so the gym membership may not make it past March but I find that changing cooking and eating habits is a lot easier – and more fun, too.
When it comes to buying a new range cooker, how do you know which hob to choose? Rangemaster has plenty of styles, configurations and designs to choose from, as well as different fuel options to suit your needs. The first thing to consider is what fuel choices are available to you and your home. Dual fuel cookers are the most popular option, where you benefit from the flexibility and even heat distribution of an electric oven with a responsive gas hob. Others prefer the fast heat-up times of a ceramic hob while induction, with its easy-clean surface, energy efficient operation and safety aspects, is fast becoming the hob of choice for families with young children. If you want gas but don’t have access to a mains supply, all Rangemaster dual fuel appliances can be converted to LPG.
Once you know which fuel type suits your needs, there are still some options to consider. Healthy dishes can be created with a wok burner for fast stir-fries, noodles and seafood while a griddle plate is ideal for steaks, salmon and even a Sunday morning fry-up without the frying. There’s no need to use any fats or oil and any juices will simply run into the channels at the sides, leaving you with fresh, mouthwatering meals prepared in the most healthy way.
For me, the Rangemaster Professional+ 100 FX dual fuel is the ultimate piece of kitchen kit. As well as two high-spec large capacity ovens with drop-down doors for easy access and an A rating for energy efficiency, it comes with a practical gas hotplate, a wok-ring for Asian-style cuisine and sit-on griddle for healthy grilled vegetables. The only difficulty would be choosing between Gloss Black, Cranberry, Cream, Stainless Steel and Gloss White.
I’m also a huge fan of the Elan 110 dual fuel range cooker, which comes with a single-piece gas hotplate ideal for versatile cooking as it boasts six burners in total, including two triple-ring wok burners. The wok cradle is sturdy, durable and can be removed for cleaning in the dishwasher – always a bonus in my book. You can also have a dishwasher-safe griddle, which again cooks a range of ingredients on one fat-free surface.
For the main oven, I love the look of the spiral handles and curvy doors as well as the choice of colours – Gloss Black, Cranberry, Olive Green, Racing Green, Cream and Royal Pearl.
